The position of the Treasurer went to Bibobra Erebe while that of ex-officio was differed due to objection by the returning officer, who, citing NLC resolution, said it had to be reserved for a female in keeping with the union’s new rule for gender inclusion.

However, two men who were validly nominated objected which led to the decision to shelve the election for the position to be decided at a later date.

Two candidates, Tarinyo Akoro and Angase John, of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), were also disqualified on account of double nominations.

A total of 392 delegates drawn from 29 unions were accredited at the election.

In his address, Ndiomu promised to do more for workers in the state as he called for support.

He listed his achievements in his first term in office to include the health insurance scheme, payment of salary arrears, employment of new workers, lifting of embargo on promotion, acquisition of land for workers and commencement of work on the building of the Labour House.
