National Girl Child Day: Chybee Advocates for Legal Reforms to Protect Girls from Discrimination

The Principal/ Chief Executive Officer of Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women, Mrs Chinyere Chukwudi Zimako has urged the government and civil society to focus more on legal reforms to protect the girls child from molestation, discrimination and violence.

Zimako made the call in Asaba, the Delta State capital at the occasion to mark the 2024 International Girls Child Day with a theme, “Girls Vision for the Future, sayings, Investing in girls is investing in brighter more equal future.

 

Chybee further added that to give protection to the girls child we must advocate for legal reforms to protect women and girls from discrimination, violence, and exploitation is crucial. This includes raising awareness about rights and providing resources for legal assistance.

The National Girls Child Day is a significant occasion, 11th October is dedicated in promoting awareness and advocating for the right and well-being of girls in our society.

“Ensuring access to quality education for girls is fundamental, not only formal schooling, but also vocational training and life skills empowerment programs that will help them to pursue their goals.

“Supporting women’s entrepreneurship through access to financing, training, and mentorship, this can enable them gain financial independence and contribute to their communities because a girl with a dream can become a woman with vision.

 

“Education and training of a girl child will prepared them to take on readership roles in politics, business, and community organizations can create more equitable decision-making processes and inspired future generations”.

“Creating platforms for women to share their experiences and challenges, also fosters sense of community and solidarity, which is essential for collective progress”.
