Aremo Hassan, the 2019 Alliance for Democracy (AD) Candidate for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos State, on Monday, pledged to sponsor 10 masses-oriented bills in 100 days if elected.
Hassan, a legal practitioner, made the promise while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said he would sponsor the National Transportation and Fare Management Authority Bill to protect masses from indiscriminate rise in transport fares by transport operators.
In his action plan, entitled “Time to serve my Constituency”, Hassan said: “I have devoted my time to serving humanity, developing unique initiatives and ensuring justice thrives over injustice at all times.
“Nationally, I shall give it my all to midwife the realisation of the restructuring master plan towards the actualisation of a new people’s constitution that gives total sovereign rights.
“I shall labour to ensure a constitution that will provide an acceptable framework for a succinct economic revolution plan and devolution of powers at all levels of governments.
“I shall be sponsoring, among other bills, the National Restructuring Affairs Commission Bill, National Plebiscites and Referendum Commission Bill, National Youth Development Right Bill and National Youth Development Commission Bill.
“Others are: the National Community Development Right Bill, National Education Right Bill, National Transportation Park and Fares Management Authority Bill, National Labour and Employment Right Bill and National Multi-Door Court House Bill.
“I shall also seek the National Legal Aid and Police Protection Right Bill and the National Social Welfare Right Bill.
“All these shall be prepared and ready within my first 100 days in office for presentation.”
He said that the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency deserved a clear and concise vision, and noble representation at this critical period, urging the constituents to give him the opportunity to serve them.
According to him, he will spare no effort to use his office to push the house resolution on the Lekki Toll gates fares to be reduced to N100 flat rates for all vehicles.
“I am ready to go the extra mile to ensure your rights are protected and by extension, all Nigerians being my larger constituency.
“My priority is to be your voice and creating the enabling opportunities and environment for the good people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency to reap the dividends of democracy in Lagos and Nigeria at large.
“I shall continually remain committed towards the protection of the social justice rights of the people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
“I shall raise a motion on the review of National Toll Gate Fares, and revenue collected shall be shared between the Concessioner and the local government within the precinct of the toll plaza,” he added.
The candidate also vowed to sponsor a public petition against all illegal demolition exercises within the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
Hassan said that if voted for, illegal demolition in Ikota Housing Estate, Ilasan Jakande Housing Estate, Olokonla, Marwa Block Village, Otodogbame and Ilubirin Community Displacement to mention a few would be addressed.
He added that he would create an open door policy by hosting regular town hall meetings with all stakeholders and leaders of thoughts quarterly. (NAN)
