The Supreme Court has at the resumed hearing of the suit between some state governments and the Federal Government, on Wednesday, stated that nothing could pressure it to become a scapegoat in the controversy.
Recall that three states, Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara alongside others that later joined had dragged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government before the apex court, seeking the cancellation of the February 10 deadline for implementation of the new naira policy, an order that was largely ignored by the president.
The court is scheduled to rule on the matter on Wednesday. It had earlier ordered a stay of action on the deadline before adjourning the suit to today.

Nevertheless, at the court, on Wednesday, the seven-member panel of justices led by Justice Inyang Okoro, had taken a break, saying the move was to allow the exchange of fresh applications by lawyers.
Justice Okoro, however, vowed that the matter must be decided today.
“You are not a stranger in this country, as you are a participant. We don’t want a situation where the Supreme Court will be made a scape goat. We refuse to be made a scapegoat,” Justice Okoro said.
