N19.6b LG fund: Firm debunks Imo govt. claims

…Says it had no dealings with Ihedioha’s govt

An accounting firm, Chief Raphael Anyama & Co Chartered Accountants, has said it is ‘false’  the claims of the Imo State Government that it was among the companies  that received payment from the administration of Chief Emeka Ihedioha in what is now regarded as the  N19. 63 billion scandal.

This was just as the firm denied ever having  any dealings whatsoever with the Emeka Ihedioha administration.

Recall that the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state,  Hon. Declan Emelumba, had alleged that Chief Raphael Anyama & Co Chartered Accountants received a payment of N245 million for Rural Roads Account without payment vouchers or approvals.

But reacting to the claims of the state government in a statement, Chief Raphael Anyama described the allegations as ‘blatantly false’.

His statement read in part: “We find it necessary to inform the general public, particularly our friends and associates, that the publication is false”.

He maintained that during the seven months of Governor Ihedioha’s administration, his company never entered into any contractual or financial dealings with the state government.

The firm also pointed out that erstwhile  Special Adviser to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mayor Eze, had exonerated the company from any dealings with the state government.

The statement continued, “It is a truism that during the seven months of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s administration in Imo State, our firm did not enter into any contractual or financial dealings with Imo State government involving payments as claimed by Commissioner Emelumba”, the firm said.
