The Secretary-General of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Mr. Anthony Porole, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
The Nigerian Xpress learnt that the victim was kidnapped yesterday night from his house in his hometown at Biara in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
As at the time of filing this report his abducted have not communicated with the victim’s family or seek ransom for his release.
Meanwhile, MOSOP has demanded for the immediate release of its official.

In a release Saturday morning signed by MOSOP Publicity Secretary, Mr Sunny Zorvah, it states “MOSOP is saddened over the report of the kidnap of her Secretary-General, Mr. Anthony Porole, in the late hours of last night”.
The statement recalled that “yesterday, about 8.30pm, the kidnappers invaded the compound of Mr. Porole in Biara community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, shooting sporadically and took him away to an unknown place”.
MOSOP however demand ” for his immediate and unconditional release by his abductors”.
Just as they called “on the security agencies to be on the trail of the kidnappers and ensure their immediate arrest”.
MOSOP lamented that ” it is callous and undeserving that a man who has committed his life in serving his people will be treated in this manner. Enough is enough of this criminal, uncivilized, barbaric and retrogressive act”.
