Monarch blasts Asari Dokubo over oil theft allegation against military

Oba Adekunle-Makama (Tegbosun III), the Olowu of Kuta in Osun State, has warned former militant leader, Asari Dokubo, against utterances that could demoralise the military in their fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta.

The monarch on Saturday said in a statement issued to newsmen in Osogbo frowned at any act that could bring the Nigerian military to disrepute.

“The outburst of Dokubo that the military was responsible for oil theft in the Niger Delta region after his visit to Mr President was unbecoming,” the traditional ruler said.

“It is a betrayal of trust. Why should he use the presidential press galery to make such statement that is capable of demoralising our military.

“Also, if he has any information about some unscrupulous elements in the military involved in oil theft, he can pass it unto Mr President without that undue sensationalism.”

He described Dokubo’s statement as unbecoming and demoralising to the Nigeria’s military fighting spirit and called on Nigerians to give maximum support for the sake of the country’s peace and unity.
