Lawyer to the family of late singer and rapper, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as MohBad, Taiwo Odumosu, has revealed that some powerful individuals are blocking the family from conducting a second autopsy on the body of the late musician.
It is recalled that MohBad died mysteriously a year ago and his death generated controversy. There were allegations the boss of his former label and musician, Azeez Adesina Fasola aka Naira Marley masterminded his death.
His wife, Wumi, has also been alleged to have knowledge of circumstances surrounding her husband’s death.
Following his death, the court ordered an autopsy to be conducted to determine the true cause of his death.
The result of the first autopsy generated controversy as his family rejected the outcome and demanded to independently carry out a second autopsy.
However, according to the family’s lawyer, Odumosu, while speaking in an interview, the family have been meeting brick walls in an attempt to conduct the autopsy as pathologists contacted declined to carry out the test citing ‘powerful individuals interested in the case.’
“Getting pathologists to attend to the matter was a bit tough. We got in touch with four pathologists: one from Kaduna, another from Maiduguri and one other place but they said powerful individuals were interested in the matter and declined to take it on,” Odumosu said.
He added that the family is making headway to get the autopsy done as samples have now been taken to Europe and promised that justice will be done.
“We also consulted those in America. However, because of the controversy trailing the first autopsy, we decided to boycott America altogether. For those who agreed to help us now, we thank them. The way to justice is always strewn with thorns. But we have the firm belief we shall get there,” he added.
Odumosu further said when the second autopsy is concluded, more lights will be shed on circumstances that led to MohBad’s death.
He noted that the delay in the outcome of the first autopsy was caused by laxity on the part of the police to do the needful as well as government’s interference which made the family doubt the authenticity of the first result.
