Afrobeat musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley is finally in police custody over his alleged links to the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Tuesday confirmed Marley’s arrest on his verified Twitter handle@BenHundeyin.
He said : “Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”
The embattled singer had earlier announced his arrival in Nigeria to help police investigation into Mohbad’s cause of desth.
rIn a post on his official “X” (Twitter) account, formerly twitter, with the caption, naira Marley wrote:“ I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
MohBad had died suddenly under mysterious circumstances on September 22. His death had stirred controversy, with several of his fans, crying foul and calling for investigation into his death.
Naira Marley and his man, Sam Larry are being suspected of having a hand in his death, following activities preceding the tragic passing of the young singer, aged 27 years.
