Oladimeji Aloba, father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has begged for forgiveness for hurriedly burying the remains of son, who died under cloudy circumstances on September 12 and buried the next day in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Following an outcry by his fans and celebrities, MohBad’s corpse was exhumed on September 21 for autopsy.
Mr. Aloba, who is a pastor and gospel singer, has in an exclusive interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Yoruba, explained what happened before his son’s death and the reason behind his hasty step.

“No one can say he loves MohBad more than I do. When they didn’t take him to the mortuary or give me a police report, I could not keep his corpse. I beg Nigerians to please help me find out what killed my son.”
He recalled in the interview on BBC Yoruba’s Instagram page that he did not get to know about the tragic incident until 8 pm when the late singer’s friends called him despite that it occured at 3:00p.m.
Aloba said: “I got home around 9:30 to 10 p.m. and met many people there. It was as if people heard the news, and I was the one who was not aware.
“They (people around) said we should hire an ambulance, take him (Mohbad) to the police station to get a police report. When we got there, the police wasted our time for three hours. They wrote the report, and I signed it, but the police didn’t give it to me. One of their bosses told them not to.”
Aloba disclosed that he had made arrangements for an ambulance to take Mohbad to the mortuary u til the arrival of his friends.
He added: “I told Mohbad’s friends who were around to gather the money that they have to put him in another ambulance while I go and prepare to bury him.”

On Naira Marley and Sam Larry, Aloba said he had never met Sam Larry but admitted visiting Naira Marley’s apartment on several occasions one of which was after the NDLEA reportedly arrested Mohbad in 2022 though the anti-drug agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, has debunked the claims that Mohbad was arrested.
He noted that contrary to MohBad’s claim that Naira Marley, his label boss, treated him badly, he was surprised to see both of them eating from the same plate.
He said: “So, I was touched to scold MohBad that he might have misbehaved towards Naira Marley. I told him that they loved him, but he always told me they didn’t love him and that he knew them. He said I was only saying so because I don’t know them.
“I prostrated to beg Naira Marley as an elder, who wanted the best for his son. I begged Naira Marley to forgive him over his video, alleging that they should hold Naira Marley responsible if he dies. When I got there to beg Naira Marley, they turned on the camera to record it.”
Naira Marley and Sam Larry have been suspected of involvement in the late singer’s death, an allegation both have denied.
However, Mohbad’s father on September 17, urged Nigerians not to be hasty blaming Naira Marley for his son’s untimely death.
Speaking on the assault meted to MohBad, Aloba narrated: “When he told me about the issue, I prayed for him. He told me that he wanted to visit someone. He went with three people. Thirty minutes later, one informed me that Mohbad was being harassed. It was like three streets away, but before I got there, the fight had ended.
“He told me that he wanted to speak out about it. That day, I saw Bella Shmurda. They called the lawyer and made their reports.
“He mentioned how Sam Larry attacked him during a video shoot with Zlatan. He said they came with cutlass, cane, and koboko. He said even his bouncers could not help the situation.
“He called me and said that since I told him not to speak out to the public, they should find a solution inside. I told him to come to Ikorodu to see the Oba.”
MohBad’s father also explained, that nothing was done after they made reports with the lawyer, adding that things actually worsened to the extent that MohBad was always afraid wherever he went to perform.
