Mob burns sit-at-home enforcer alive as police kill two in Anambra, recover operational vehicle

The anger of traders boiled over in Ogidi, Anambra State, and they burnt one of the enforcers of the sit-at-home order that has devastated and pauperised the people of the South East region.
The order to was issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to protest the continued detention of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Although IPOB has since cancelled the exercise, some elements suspected to be members of Simon Ekpa’s Autopilot has continued to enforce the order.
However, when, on Monday, one of the enforcers allegedly went into the market to order business owners to shut down and observe the order, he got more than he expected, as angry traders of building materials violently resisted and set him ablaze after putting a tyre on him and dousing him with petrol.
Meanwhile, the operatives of the Anambra police Command also killed two gunmen allegedly enforcing the Monday sit-at-home order despite its cancellation by the leadership of IPOB.
According to the state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident happened along Umunze road in Orumba South Local Government Area.
”The Anambra State Command operatives on crime prevention patrol, in the early hours of today 16/5/2022 (Monday) along Umunze, road, Orumba South LGA, engaged armed- bearing gunmen allegedly enforcing sit – at – home in Anambra State,” the statement read.

“The operatives neutralized two of the miscreants and recovered a white Toyota Hiace bus with no registration number.
“Further details showed that these miscreants were obstructing the movement of innocent road users, going about their businesses.
“The hoodlums forcefully collected their motorbikes and tricycles, chased away the passengers and then set the motorcycles and tricycles ablaze.”
Ikenga further revealed that the situation was being monitored, as the Command had intensified patrol in the state.
