Salem Egoh, a music teacher and producer has translated the Bible into Pidgin.
He said the reason he translated the Bible to English is to make it easy for people to read and understand.
Speaking to BBC Pidgin, he said he worked on the project secretly for three years and almost gave up.
While growing up, Egoh said, he was taught to write by his father and he always copied what is in the Bible to paper.
“My father taught me to write and I used the Bible to learn how to write. I used to rewrite the Bible. That’s what helped me to learn to write,” he said.
According to him, people were surprised when they saw his work after he finished translating the Bible.
Egoh said he had to take a break from what he is to translate the Bible.
There are various versions of Pidgin English in Africa. Egoh’s version of the Pidgin is mostly Nigerian from Warri in Delta State.
