The Director-General of Strategic Operations, ICT and Public Enlightenment Unit at the Niger State Government House, Abdulberqy Ebbo, has disclosed that the state government has arrested some suspects, including a medical doctor as Boko Haram informants.
According to Ebbo, the men confessed to informing members of the insurgent group about the movement of troops.
“One of the 9 arrested bandits’ informants in Niger state is a medical doctor, they’ve also confessed to leaking information on troops movements to bandits,” Ebbo said.Similarly, the state governor, Sani Bello, on Monday raised the alarm that the terror group has hoisted its flag in some communities in the state, adding that they may have plans to establish a base in the state.
“They’ve taken over the territory, they’ve installed their flag. I am confirming that now. They’ve taken over the wives of people by force.
“Boko Haram elements are trying to use these areas as their home just like they did in Sambisa,” the governor said.Bello expressed sadness that the Federal Government has not of helped much.
However, he was hopeful that something could still be done.
“I have not lost hope from the Federal Government, but I am not waiting for anyone anymore,” he added.
