Zamfara state governor, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle has approved the reduction of Permanent Secretaries in the state from 47 to 26 to enhance efficiency in the civil service.
Matawalle in a state wide broadcast said the decision to reduce the high number of Permanent Secretaries was targeted to restructure the civil service to make it more responsive to the public desire for greater efficiency and in line with the principles of best practice.

The governor said on assumption of office as the Governor of Zamfara State, he realised that there is the need to restructure the civil service to make it more responsive to the public desire for greater efficiency and in line with the principles of best practice.
“Civil service across the globe is designed to serve as a machinery of the government, through which public expectations are met. It is crucial to the realisation of the central objective of governance, which is meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people”, he said.
