Man who told wife he was going to buy drugs dies in hotel during sex with lover

The death of a middle-aged man, simply called Lucky, in Alagbole area of Ojodu-Abiodun, a boundary town between Lagos and Ogun States, vividly confirms the proverbial land squirrel that enjoys eating a banana from a trap targetted at killing it.
45-year old Lucky, according to investigations, died on Sunday, 13th of May in a hotel around his house in Alagbole after some rounds of sex with his lover, who lives two streets away from his house.

A neighbour of the deceased and a close associate of the late Lucky’s wife said the deceased told his wife late that Sunday evening that he was going to buy some drugs for his ill heath but did not come back as expected.
” When after some hours the man did not come back home, and his wife went to look for him at all the pharmaceutical outlets around and other places to no avail, she raised an alarm and she was advised to make a report at the Ajuwon Police station,” explained the neighbour.
All hell, however, was let loose when the sad news broke the following morning that a man was found dead in a hotel room in the area.

Although the management of the hotel confirmed leasing out one of their rooms to the late Lucky and a lady, the lady was nowhere to be found when the lifeless body of Lucky was discovered in the room.
“Lucky’s lover apparently took to her heels immediately he slumped after whatever they did,” said the neighbour.
Nemesis, however, caught up with the lover girl, who obviously is a “runs” girl.
Two days after the incident, one of Lucky’s friends, who was determined to fish the girl out, searched the late man’s phone and got his lover’s number. He called as an intending client and the unsuspecting girl, who obviously had concluded to move on with life and “business” picked the call and both agreed to meet at a particular place.
It was at the agreed point that the arm of the law grabbed her and she was locked up in the police cell.
While consensus reports from family members said that the deceased was a patient of high blood pressure and possibly died from its complications, many were of the belief that he would have lived longer if he had not been promiscuous.

A woman who lived close to the deceased’s house confirmed this. “This Mr. Lucky indeed died a shameful death. I am not rejoicing over this but I am glad that this happened close to us and many men around this environment are aware of the circumstances that surrounded his death. He was a young man, who should have lived longer if not for his adulterous and deceitful nature. He deceived his wife and children that he was sick and going to get some drugs but actually had a different mission that the devil dropped in his mind to kill him. That should be very instructive to adulterous men because I am sure he has engaged in the dirty act for some time. I only pity his wife that is now left alone to shoulder the responsibilities of the children,” lamented the woman.
But another concerned neighbour had a contrary picture of Lucky’s death. “The girl in question is a runs girl that needs extra energy to be satisfied. Maybe the guy took some enhancing drinks to enable him to perform satisfactorily in bed not knowing that it was going to be a ride of death. Such drinks are bad for anyone in his health condition,” he said.
While many pointed accusing fingers at the deceased for his act of infidelity, a number of others literally heaped blame on his lover.

“I am happy though for the arrest of the lady, who was with Lucky that night. Lazy, heartless and shameless are just some of the adjectives that best describe her person and action. Why is it difficult for our young women today to work and earn decent money? Why does it not bother them to live as women of easy virtue? How would a man slump while having sex with you and you would do nothing to save him from dying and then, you were so unfeeling and not scared that you were ready to continue the same business that claimed the life of one of your customers? Is there no conscience, sense of decency in our ladies again?” a pained elderly provision trader in the area, Mrs. Deola agonised.
It was further learnt that the death of Lucky was not unconnected with his family’s history of untimely death.
A member of the deceased’s family, who also spoke on condition of anonymity,  told The Nigerian Xpress that Lucky was destined to die young because it runs in his lineage.

“Men do not usually live long in Lucky’s lineage and he knew it. It was only saddening that he did not choose to die an honourable death,” he explained.
Whether destined or self-inflicted, medical experts said Lucky would have stayed longer if he was not ignorant and careless about his health condition.

According to a medical practitioner, Mrs. Jibola Oni, “high blood pressure is not a death sentence. Patients only need to adhere to some measures and they will live their lives to the fullest.  Men with a history of high blood pressure are to desist from marathon sex, for instance, particularly the ones that push them to take aphrodisiacs in order to avoid complications like stroke and sudden death,” she said.
