A suspect who specialises in stealing ATM cards and subsequently using the details to transfer monies from victim’s account have been arrested.
The suspect whose identity was given as Olawale Aderibigbe was arrested by men of the Inspector General of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Surulere Lagos.
Parading the suspect on Wednesday at the Police Command Heaquaters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu said the suspect who is a member of a syndicate was arrested based on credible information.
CP Muazu said, “ On February 18, 2019, based on credible information received by the Intelligence Unit of the Command, Aderibigbe was arrested in Surulere area of the state.

“He was subsequently interrogated and he confessed belonging to a syndicate that specialises on robbing innocent Nigerians of their ATM cards and use same to steal monies from their victims bank accounts.”
The 33 year old indigent of Ekiti state also told journalists his role in the syndicate.
He claimed he is only a contractor who works on ATM cards. “ I don’t steal ATM cards. When others rob people of their ATM cards, they call me to work on it and transfer the monies in the account through online transfer to another account,” he declared.
The state Police Boss further disclosed the command is making concerted efforts to arrest fleeing members of the syndicate. He also stated that the suspect so far arrested will be charged to court.
