A young man simply identified as Oke, has been reportedly killed by policemen at Makinde Police Division in Oshodi.
Oke an active #EndSARS protester, was reportedly passing around the police division, when policemen started shooting to disperse suspected hoodlums.
It was gathered that the hoodlum had attempted to set the police division ablaze on Wednesday, but were repelled by superior force from the police.
Oke, a graphic artiste had three hours before his death tweeted via his handle, @O_Okee, “Nigeria will not end me”.
He was however killed by a stray bullet during the shootout in Oshodi.
A video of the mother of the deceased, who held on to the remains of her son amidst tears was shared on social media, as many condemned the killing.
Speaking on the incident and other attacks in the state, Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the command will not hesitate to repel attacks by hoodlums.
Stating that three new generation banks, 10 police divisions, malls, government offices, Bus Terminus, and residential buildings had been attacked by hoodlums.
Adejobi in a statement on Wednesday said: “ Today, the hoodlums again launched series of attack on many facilities within Lagos State such as the Palace of Oba of Lagos, Shoprite Ajah, Nigerian Port Authority head office Marina, the Governor’s mother’s house at Akerele, VIO/Federal Road Safety Corps offices at Ojodu, Lagos State, Magistrate Courts, Igbosere, TVC station, the Nation Newspapers office, and many other shops/malls were looted.
“ Generally, due to the persistent attacks and mayhem caused by the hoodlums, four people have been injured while others lost their lives.
“ The Command wishes to reiterate that in as much as we respect people’s opinions and rights, it will not allow the present situation degenerate to anarchy and general insecurity where hoodlums will have free days to kill, destroy and loot people’s property with impunity.
“ The command will repel any group of individuals that might want to continue with these heinous and barbaric acts across the state. We are committed to maintenance of law and order, and enforcement of all laws in Lagos state.”
