Man docked for allegedly impersonating as public servant

A 24-year-old man, Kabir Abdullahi, was on Thursday arraigned in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on charges bordering on  criminal breach of trust, cheating and impersonating to be a public servant.

Abdullahi, who resides at Asokoro Abuja, however, denied committing the alleged offences.

The prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that Pastor Sampson Chuks, of Idu-Karmo, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station, on Jan. 10.

The prosecutor alleged that the complainant reported that sometimes in December 2018, the defendant allegedly impersonated to be a staff of Grade 1 Area Court, Karmo.

That he was delegated by the court to secure bail for one  Prince Luck, who was remanded at Keffi Prison Nasarawa State.

Ukagha also said that he allegedly collected N51, 000 to secure the bail.

She told the court that during police investigation he allegedly confessed to the crime.

Ukagha said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 312, 322 and 132 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60, 000  with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until March 4, for hearing. (NAN)
