A female secondary school student was, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, rescued inside a tinted car in possession of a man and woman in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
Operatives of the state police command arrested the suspects, following have credible intelligence given by residents.
Announcing the development on his X handle, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police Public Relations Officer identified the couple as Adamaka Chinyere and Bolajoko Haruna.
He added that the duo was arrested by policemen from the Ikotun Division of the state police command acting on information received from community members, who reported that they were moving around their neighbourhood suspiciously.
When police operatives confronted the suspects, it was discovered that they had allegedly abducted a female secondary school student and put her inside a tinted Toyota Camry.
“Ikotun Police Division received information from community members about the presence of strange people moving around their neighbourhood suspiciously,” Hundeyin wrote.
“The police moved in discreetly, quickly enough to rescue a female secondary school student they had tricked into their car and abducted.
“The suspects, Adamaka Chinyere and Bolajoko Haruna, have been arrested and their tinted Toyota Camry impounded. They are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation.”
Hundeyin also disclosed that the victim had been reunited with her family members.
