As part of preparations leading to the October 6, 2021, local government elections, the European Centre for Electoral Support, is partnering with the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), to train officials of the Commission, journalists, Civil Society Organisations, as well as women and youths.
According to a detailed outlines of activities for the training, released by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NASIEC, Patience Fada, on Friday, ECES would undertake separate training for critical stakeholders in the election process, with a view to ensuring the success of the council polls.
Accordingly, ECES will organise a one-day training for NASIEC officials and journalists, on election administration, conflict management, media and communication.
The training which will hold on September 27, 2021, will feature Hamza Fassi-Fihri, Project Coordinator, ECES, who is to deliver a goodwill message, while Prof. Bolade Eyinla, Chief Technical Adviser to the INEC Chairman, is billed speak on State Independent Electoral Commissions: Election Administration and Management.
Also, Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, will deliver a paper on, the EMB, Media Relations and Communications.
Similarly, ECES will conduct a training for inclusivity, where NASIEC officials, women, youth and persons with disabilities, will undergo a one-day training on gender mainstreaming and election management, as well as disability inclusion in the electoral process.
The third leg of the training will be for NASIEC officials and Civil Society Organisations Observers, with Paul James, Programme/Training Manager, Yiaga Africa, delivering a paper on Participants Expectations/Objectives and Ground Rules.
