The major reasons why our country is backward, can be compared to what happened to Jerusalem in the days of Nehemiah, he confessed that ,they have dealt corruptly against God.
They have not kept his commandments, the statues nor the judgements which the Lord has commanded them.
At this critical time in our country, the Coronavirus (COVID-19)pandemic has exposed a lot of our lapses,shortcomings ,loopholes and the failures of our government ,that is why our economy is not thrilling at this time.
The major areas that were exposed at the shortcomings of our government, during this pandemic are namely as follows;

A. Health sector: Our government were not prepared ahead of time, most of our health facilities are not in good conditions, some states cannot even boast of a high standard testing facilities, it really opened our eyes to do more in the health sector ,especially to build world class hospitals to commemorate this period ,that during the COVID -19 pandemic this are the facilities that we built.
B. Education sector: Our schools from tertiary institutions ,secondary schools both private and public schools, till now couldn’t clearly state the way forward for their student learning. Some schools do not even bother to communicate with the parents till this moment on the future of their children’s education. As a nation we need to rise up to our task at this critical period,because, the future of our children, youths are at risk.
C. Palliative measures: Nobody prays for this time to come ,but has it has happen, the government failed to provide for his citizens at this critical period. So many of our citizen were hunger stricken.
The palliative claimed by some people in the government that were distributed to people didn’t get to them ,we implore the government to do more in this aspect ,to motivate our citizens to ease their tensions.
WAYFORWARD
I’m using this medium to implore our religious institutions (Christians and Muslim ) to stand up as Nehemiah stood up for his nation Jerusalem, and he was successful in his endeavours.
All our Religious leaders should come together as one entity ,this is not the time ,to be claiming self righteousness than the other or claiming superiority of denominations let us speak with one voice to our government and to remind God of his promises to our country, because God’s love for Nigeria is immeasurable.
Nehemiah’s prayer came from his heart, he prayed with fasting and tears, he prayed day and night, he confessed his sins and the sins of the people, he also prayed with humble and sober heart. I know with all these steps, the walls of our nation that has been broken will be restored wholly by God and we shall take back our position in the committee of Nations.
