Learn from experience, Kwara APC urged

A pro-democratic organisation, the Youth Advocacy Initiative, has advised the leadership of the Kwara State leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to learn from the lesson of the experience of the immediate past administration that was swept away by the opposition in 2019, reminding that, when the when the political Tsunami swept it away to give the opposition the opportunity to capture power.

The leader of the group, Comrade Adekunle Akinde, in a statement in Omu Aran, Kwara State, reminded that, when the electorate decided to show the party leader the way to the door, nobody was spared among the warring factions and the entire structure of the party in the state, cautioning that, if care is not taken at the appropriate time before it becomes late, the consequences would be disastrous politically.

The group expressed the fears that, if things are not normalised now in the party, those involved in the imbroglio may end becoming the worse opposition against themselves, warming that, the crisis may likely cause a crack that can lead to a regrettable political doom of an unimaginable proportion.

“The leaders of the all the tendencies should thread with caution. The worst thing they will do or likely do to each other will not be as worse as what the opposition will do to them if they lose power to the opposition as a result of the avoidable crisis.

“Crisis is naturally normal in politics. All the leaders share in the blame for not putting in place eminent political figures to form a committee of conflict resolution ahead of this because they are all coming from different political background, ideology and leaning,” the group observed.

The organization reasoned that, “As shareholders, they need prompt resolution of the imbroglio before it is too late because if it continues further, the consequences would be devastating,” warning that, the electorate would not have time to decide who is clean and who is not before sweeping all of them away from power.

“When the electorate were fed up with the immediate past administration, they said enough was enough (O to ge), and swept both the leadership and followership of the hitherto ruling party into the ocean of abyss,” the group cautioned, stressing the need to settle their differences amicably to give Governor Abdur Razaq AbdurRahaman rest of mind to remain focussed on the onerous task of state building.
