LASTMA calls for establishment of more Traffic Safety Advocacy Clubs in schools

As part of efforts geared towards improving Traffic Management across the State, the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, has called for the establishment of more ‘Traffic Safety Advocacy Clubs’ in both Public and Private schools.
Mr. Oreagba made this call today during an interactive session with students of ‘Dee-Gee Secondary School’, Ebute Metta, Lagos who paid him a courtesy visit to commemorate his 365 days in office.

The General Manager, remarked that he was the Director of Operations before he was appointed as the General Manager of LASTMA by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on 14th of September, 2021.
Mr. Oreagba disclosed that the establishment of more of the Clubs in schools would go a long way to inculcate traffic safety measures into students at a tender age.
“These young students are definitely the future of this country, so if you catch them young by impacting traffic knowledge in them automatically there would be massive reduction in accidents on our roads in the nearest future” he said.
According to the LASTMA boss, the ‘School Advocacy Programme (SAP) where LASTMA Officers educate and enlighten students of different schools is continuous across the five divisions of the state.

He enjoined parents and guardians to always be good examples to their children by obeying all traffic regulations and road signs whenever they are on board with them.
Master Adesegun Umar (SS3) who spoke on behalf of the students commended LASTMA officers for managing traffic across Lagos.
He confirmed that they have all gained additional knowledge during the interactive session with the General Manager particularly on ‘Zebbra Crossing’ lines on roads.
Also, in attendance with the General Manager during the interactive session were Senior Management Staffs and Lastma Comptrollers.
