LASG shuts down Ojodu schools till 2021

The Lagos State Government may have succumbed to pressures from parents of students of Ojodu Government schools as the four affected institutions were shut doy yesterday.

Students were asked to go home until the resumption of schools next year. Lagos schools are to shut down for the Christmas holidays Friday next week, but following the accident at Grammar School bus stop yesterday that claimed the lives of some students, the government ordered the closure of the four secondary schools located in the Ojodu Grammar School complex.

Many parents had this morning besieged the schools demanding the release of their wards. Many of the parents were seen searching for their children who they claimed had not been seen since the accident yesterday. Efforts to speak to the Lagos State Commissioner for Education did not yield a positive response.

The Nigerian Xpress broke the story of the deaths of students that a hit and run trailer ran into students waiting for the bus at Grammar School Bus stop, Ojodu, Lagos this afternoon.

The students were leaving their school after examinations and were waiting for the bus to convey them home when a trailer carrying detergents rammed into them at the bus stop. An unknown number of students were reported killed. Some eyewitness account said over 10 students were killed and several others were injured.

The police are at present having a tough time controlling angered students who are on a rampage.
