An aspirant into the Lagos House of Assembly for Ikorodu Constituency 2 in the coming 2023 election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Tosin Onamade, has distanced himself from a purported Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between aspirants from the constituency published by the Ijede LCDA chapter of the party.
In the letter titled, “Memorandum of Understanding Amongst the Ijede APC Aspirants For the 2023 Ikorodu Constituency II: LAHA Position’, nine aspirants including Onamade purportedly appended their signatures in acknowledgement to the outcome of a shadow primary which also comprised Ijede APC leaders.
The purported agreement stated the aspirants agreed ‘ to abide by the outcome of the ‘shadow primary’ and cooperate with the leaders and the eventual winners, as well as ‘ ensure crises free shadow primary.’
But in a swift response to the above agreement, Onamade described the meeting as a sham.

“I am not aware of any such meeting, nor did I partake in it. How can you claim to have a shadow primary within a reputable political party like the APC, and exclude aspirants who have duly purchased their interest forms?’ Onamade queried.
“This is a contravention of the rules and principles guiding the activities of APC in Ijede, and those responsible for this dubious arrangement are only trying to sell out a plan that can only be achieved in their wildest imaginations,” he said.
He added: If you observe the letter closely, you’d realise that it was not signed which shows clearly it was fake. To make matters worse, they even wrote my name as part of the attendees whereas I was not there at all. This is fraudulent. There is clearly no party chairman involved in the meeting, no apex leader and not even a presiding officer involved.”
