Protesters in Lagos State on Thursday shunned the Freedom and Peace Parks earlier ordered to be used for the protest and took over the everbusy Ikorodu road saying that the government has no right to confine them to a place that is not of their choice.
There were two factions of the protesters at the venue; those protesting against hardship and those protesting in favour of the government.
Those for the protest said it is their right to protest what they are not satisfied with about the governance of their country while the other faction stressed the need to allow the government to spend beyond a year before its assessment.
Addressing the protesters, the Commissioner of police, Lagos state Command, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade urged the protesters to be law abiding and be restricted to the venue of the protest.
He warned the protesters to be vigilant and not allow unscrupulous elements to infiltrate them to hijack the peaceful protest.
The military and other government security agencies have before the arrival of the protesters mounted surveillance at strategic locations particularly expected venues of the protest including Ikeja and Alausa.
