Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, has appointed a Judicial Liaison Officer (JLO) for the state police command.
The JLO, Yetunde Cardoso, a Superintendent of Police (SP), is to work with the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria and other relevant Non-Governmental Organisations, agencies and Civil Liberty Organisations (CLOs) to promote smooth and prompt dispensation of justice in Lagos State.
Mr. Odumosu made the declaration, on Thursday, while receiving a delegation from the Legal Aid Council, South West Zone , led by Mrs. Lateefat Salawu, at the command headquarters, in Ikeja.
In a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the state police boss said, “SP Cardoso, who is also the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Legal, Lagos State, is to liaise between the Council and agencies and the Police to make sure the Human Right Desk of the Command is active; and always expedite actions on cases and matters related to Administration of Justice in the state.”

He assured the Council of his commitment to support its efforts on the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme (PDSS) which provides enabling atmosphere for easy access to Police facilities and suspects by designated members of the Council.
In her response, Salawu, who was accompanied by the representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos State chapter, Barr. Okey Ilofulunwa, European Union, amongst others, commended the Police boss for his proactiveness and spontaneous response to issues and protection of lives and property.
She also promised that the Council would work in partnership with the police to ensure prompt dispensation of justice to strengthen the Criminal Justice System in the state.
