The Lagos State government on Friday received relief materials donated by Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety, NIMASA, to Internally Displaced Person, IDP.
The materials were presented to the management of Lagos State Agricultural Development Centre, Oko Oba Agege
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu at the presentation of the materials, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo thanked the agency for the kind gesture while assuring of equitable distribution of the items.
He promised the state government will deliver the materials to those they were meant, while calling for more support from well meaning Nigerians.
NIMASA Director Audit, Olamide Odusanya representing the Director General, Bashir Jamoh, says the relief materials was donated as part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility to alleviate the sufferings of the less privilege, eradicate poverty as well as empowering IDPs in Lagos its host community and other states of the federation to make them self reliant and tend to their basic needs.
Also Speaking, Member House of representatives, representing Badagry constituency and member House Committee on Maritime, Babatunde Hunpe, said his efforts were paying off, promising to do much more for Lagos.
Director General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said the state government would do the needful to the commodities that were donated which included medicals, food items, machines, equipment and education materials restating the agency commitment to be more proactive on disasters management.
