Team Impact Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Academy, LJLA, have been commended by the Lagos Head of Service, HoS, Olabode Agoro and the Chairman, Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Samiat Bada for renovating and re-commissioning of the Isheri Primary Health Centre.

The HoS was among dignitaries that attended the re-commissioning ceremony of the centre on Thursday.

According to him, youths should emulate what the Fellows of the academy have done which was to take up projects, fund it and commission it.

“We are looking for youth to become part of the government by joining the government because if they don’t join the government, they won’t have a say in creating policies that will benefit the state,” Agoro said.

Speaking on the project, Agoro described it as ‘ a fantastic project,’

“It was done with support of the chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy took it upon themselves to support the council with this initiative. What they have done here is fantastic and I know the next Fellows of the academy are in for a big test because they must up their game.’

He commended the academy ‘for their doggedness and also thank the chairman of Ikosi-Isheri for her support to actualise the vision.’

On her part, Bada thanked the Fellows for ‘their kind gesture and partnering with the council to renovate the centre. She described the gesture as ‘uncommon initiative and contribution to the welfare of the people of Isheri, and expressed confidence the ‘academy would go far.

“It is pertinent to say that the renovated health centre will stand the test of time and improve the health of the people of the LCDA. I implore the community to make good use of the facility,” she urged.

The Project Team Lead, Team Impact of the academy, Michael Ogunkoya said prior to the renovation, the centre lacked good structure, sustainable energy systems and other medical facilities.

He noted that with the recommissioning, the centre now has a solar inverter system, upgraded structure, electronic medical record system, enhanced medical equipment as well as improved patients flow with comprehensive training and certifications for staff.

He further said the project tagged ‘Greater Health Project’ was part of projects expected from the Fellows as a way of giving back to the society.

Ogunkoya expressed hope that the approach the team adopted in the renovation can be replicated across Lagos State thereby improving the state’s health sector.
