The Special Adviser, Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Afolabi Tajudeen, has said N1billion has been expended by the state government as financial assistance to 1,681 ‘struggling Lagosians under the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listens’ programme in the last one year.

Afolabi spoke on Monday at the ongoing briefing to mark one year of the reelection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He said among beneficiaries of the programme were those with health issues, house rent and feeding challenges, among others.

The commissioner added that over 233, 395 Lagosians have visited the Lagos CitizensGate Mobile 2.0 App where issues, complaints and enquiries could be lodged.

He further said within one year, 2000 palliative food boxes were distributed to 2000 beneficiaries to provide ‘the much needed support and relief to vulnerable households.’

On the school feeding programme, Afolabi said the government is working towards resuming the programme, adding schools within the state would soon begin to enjoy the programme.

He added that the agency has been holding quarterly community development sensitisation and equipment programmes to enlighten communities on government policies, initiatives and ensure improved social development.

Afolabi debunked strained relationship between the legislative and executive, adding that the 18th Executive and Legislative Parley held in March 2024 has helped ‘ to place the legislators, the executive and the major stakeholders in the development of the state on the same page’
