Labour Party leadership crisis: Finally, Lamidi Apapa loses out

The Court of Appeal sitting, in Abuja, has affirmed Julius Abure as the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

The ruling has decisively nailed Lamidi Apapa’s claim to the office.

The judgement delivered by Justice Hamma Barka on Wednesday, also upturned the decision of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, which had restrained Abure and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party last year.

Recall that Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court had granted and ex-parte order, ordering that Abure and two other national officers to stop parading themselves as leaders of the party for allegedly forging national documents.

However, the Appellate Court set the verdict aside and held that the high court was wrong to have assumed jurisdiction on the matter.

It also awarded a cost of One million Naira against the respondent, Lamidi Apapa in favour of Abure.
