The policeman who killed Kolade Johnson, a Lagos resident, Olalekan Ogunyemi, has been remanded in prison custody for 30 days pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Ogunyemi was of the Lagos State Police Command and had since been dismissed.
The accused, Ogunyemi, was arraigned before Magistrate Salawu O. A at the Chief Magistrate Court, Yaba Lagos State on Friday.
The prosecuting counsel, Inspector Olatunde Kehinde, appealed for remand of the accused for 30 days for proper filing of cases before the court.

The defence counsel, Shola Adeyemo, urged the Magistrate to reduce number of days of remand for the accuse in custody to allow him his fundamental rights.
Reading her judgement after the submissions, Magistrate Salawu ruled that the accused be remanded in prison custody for 30 days pending legal advice from the DPP.
She cited session 264 (1) and (2) of the constitution to remand the accused in police custody for 30 days.
She ordered the police to file a duplicate and send to DPP to advise if the defendant has a case or not.
The case was subsequently adjourned till 6 May for DPP’s advice.
