Chairman of Kogi State University Sports Council, Dr Olanrewaju Makinde Hassan has commended organizers and sponsors of the Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) for investing in the Nigerian youth.
The university don who spoke yesterday in Lagos before the final of this year’s competition noted that the annual football tournament is a solid unifying factor in the country.

He noted that the tournament has afforded students the opportunity to travel to different parts of the country to make new friends and know the country better.
“HiFL is cementing Nigeria’s unity. The organizers and sponsors deserve a pat on the back,” Hassan said.
Kogi State University won yesterday’s final beating Federal University Oye- Ekiti (FUOYE) by 3-1 to win the trophy for the very first time.
University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) finished third after managing a 1-0 victory over the University of Ilorin in the third place game. Both matches were decided at the Yaba College of Technology ( Yabatech) Sports Centre.
