Kidnappers kill ex-Senator’s brother in Ekiti-Kwara

A relation of the former Sen. Simeon Ajibola representing Kwara South District has been reported killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers because he resisted them from kidnapping him.
Biodun Ajibola, who doubles as the Farm Manager of his former senator brother, was reportedly murdered by the invaders who stormed the farm located in Isapa, the country home of the erstwhile Senator pounced on the deceased and his official driver about 8 o’clock in the morning of the fateful day.
The gun-wielding hoodlums, according to sources, ordered the late Biodun Ajibola and the driver, to surrender themselves for abduction but the decesased resisted them and was in the process, shot dead in cold blood.

A family source told journalists in Isapa that while the kidnappers were dragging the driver, one Felix Segun Adeleye, who they had already shot in the leg into the bush, they sighted some motorcyclists coming their way and abandoned him and fled but were still shooting sporadically apparently to scare away the approaching cyclists.
The motorcyclists, according to the sources, thereafter, gave the kidnappers a hot chase but the outcome of the chase was not known at the time of filing this report on Thursday morning.
While fielding questions from newmen in Isapa, the people said they suspected that the former Sen. Ajibola might have been the target of the hoodlums to be kidnapped.
They said, “thank God that Senator Simeon Ajibola was not around. Perhaps their intention was to take him away. But the supervisor in charge of the farms was not lucky as he was. He got killed when the kidnappers invaded the farm.

“Senator Ajibola’s driver who was attached to the late supervisor was wounded and he is currently in the hospital in Ilorin receiving treatment”.

A source who pleaded an anonimity when he was asked by journalists how sure he was that the gunmen were kidnappers said; “the driver told me that they attempted to take him away after killing the supervisor of the farms. But that they abandoned him when they saw some motorcyclists aaproaching and faced them (the motorcyclits)”.

Sources in Isapa also informed the nesmen that the the matter had been reported at the Osi Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekiti Local Government Area while the remains of Late Ajibola had been evacuated and deposited in a morgue.
When contacted, spokesman of Kwara State Police Command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident when contacted on phone saying; “the corpse had been evacuated from the scene” and that “policemen were on the trail of the hoodlums”.
