Members of Nigerian Bar Association, Owerri Branch, have commenced a boycott of all courts activities in Imo State in protest over the kidnap of Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme and the gruesome murder of his orderly, an Inspector of Police and a Nigerian Citizen
The members of the Bar also vowed to refrain from attending to any kidnap case in any Court in Imo State till Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme regains her freedom unharmed.
Their resolution followed the outcome of an emergency general meeting of the association held on Monday the 4th day of November, 2019 at the Bar Centre, High Court Premises, Orlu road, Owerri, Imo State.
In their 9 point resolutions issued in Owerri and endorsed by the chairman of the association, Barr. Demian Nosike, and the secretary Barr. JSC Osuebi, the association frowned at the kidnap of Justice Iheme at Benin, Edo State where she carries out her judicial functions as one of the Justices of Court of Appeal, Benin Division and the gruesome murder of her orderly, an Inspector of Police, describing it as unacceptable, most unfortunate, regrettable, condemnable and barbaric.
The Bar condoles with the Nigerian Police Force and the immediate family of the murdered Police orderly of Hon. Chioma Nwosu-Iheme (JCA).

They called on Inspector General of Police to without hesitation liaise with other sister security agencies to ensure that the kidnapped Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme (JCA) regains her freedom unharmed forthwith.
According to them, the Inspector General of Police should as a matter of necessity detail his best intelligence gathering Officers to fish out those hoodlums that perpetrated these dastardly acts of murdering a seasoned Police Officer in the discharge of his official functions and the eventual kidnap of Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme (JCA) by those misfits.
He should as well liaise with Commissioners of Police in various States to assign more Police Officers to guard the Judicial Officers in their respective abodes and when on transit.
The association demanded for the fishing out and prosecution of the perpetrators of these dastardly acts in line with the relevant laws of the land.
They commended the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch and the President of Nigerian Bar Association for their proactive roles in ensuring that Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme (JCA) regains her freedom unharmed while assuring of their willingness to cooperate with them in any area their services are required.
