The Kano State Fire Service on Wednesday said that it received 83 distress calls from different parts of the state in two weeks.
Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, the Public Relations Officer of the service in Kano, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that the calls emanated from fire disasters, road accidents and gas cooker-induced fire incidents.
Mohammed said 46 of the calls were on fire incidents; 28 for rescue; while nine were false alarms.

The spokesman advised the public to always exercise caution with electrical appliances and avoid storing petroleum products in shops and homes.
He also advised that gas cylinders should be kept in well-ventilated places.
Mohammed called on motorists to be cautious while driving, and always obey traffic rules and regulations. (NAN)
