JUST IN: Rivers Assembly Speaker, Edison Ehie resigns

Report reaching The Nigerian Xpress indicates that Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ehie Ogerenye Edison has resigned as Speaker and Member of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

His resignation followed a meeting President Bola Tinubu had with all political stakeholders in Rivers State over the crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Barr. Nyesom Woke, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Among the resolutions reached was the reinstatement of the former Speaker of the House which means the current Speaker has to relinquish his position.

The resignation letter was dated December 29, 2023.
