An early morning gas explosion claimed many lives in Lagos State, on Tuesday.
The Nigerian Xpress could not immediately identify what led to the gas explosion that occurred at Ojekunle Street, Papa Ajao area of the metropolis.

It was, however, gathered that the explosion took place about 8:00am that morning.
Many dead victims have since been away from the scene with many more trapped inside.
As of press time, rescue operations were still being carried out by residents and responders.
