JUST IN: Ex-Gov. Dickson lauds Supreme Court, says, ‘Some people want to impose a governor on Bayelsa to loot state’

Immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday, commended the Supreme Court for refraining from being used to undermine the popular wish of the people of the state.

The former governor said that approaching the Apex Court to reverse its judgement of February 13, 2020, which sacked then governor-elect, David Lyon and his deputy, was nothing but an attempt to impose the will of parochial people on the state.

He said these while reacting to the judgement of the Apex Court on reviewing its earlier verdict on the mater brought before it by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and David Lyon.

According to him, “Some people wanted to impose a governor in Bayelsa so that they and some other people will be in control of Bayelsa resources.

“They intimidated Bayelsans including the military and INEC, but today the Supreme Court, like they did on February 13, reaffirmed their readiness to do justice.
I thank the Almighty God for letting the truth prevail.

“I want to thank the Supreme Court who, in spite of harassment and intimidation, directly and indirectly, refused to be cowed into taking an unpopular decision.”

The former governor, therefore, called on the people of the state to rally round Governor Douye Diri to move the state forward.
