Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State now has a new deputy. He is Chief Edward Onoja, who was sworn in, on Monday, amid pomp and pageantry in Lokoja, the state capital.
Onoja had, last week, been screened by members of state’s Assembly, at the Assembly Complex, in Lokoja.

The Monday’s swearing-in was performed on Onoja by the Chief Judge (CJ) of Kogi State, Justice Nasir Ajanah.

The state’s House of Assembly had, last Friday, impeached Elder Simon Achuba as the deputy to Governor Yahaya Bello, shortly after receiving the report of the panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the former deputy.
However, on Sunday, Achuba declared his impeachment as ‘unconstitutional’, saying that he would challenge it in court.
Onoja who recently resigned as the Chief of Staff to the governor, is the running mate to Governor Bello in the November 16 state governorship election.
