Two students of the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State, have died in recent mishaps.
While one drowned, the other reportedly died in a road accident.
The institution’s spokesman, Habibu Matazu, confirmed the development.
According to Matazu, a 100-level Physics and Electronics student, Suleiman Aliyu, drowned while swimming at Dutsinma Dam.
It was reported that Aliyu and some other students had gone to the Dam to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary when the incident occurred.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Another student, identified as Nana Firdausi Mustapha also died in a road accident along Kankara Road in the state.
The deceased was a student in the Department of Microbiology in the institution.
She was said to be travelling along with other students to the permanent site of the university when the accident occurred.
Her remains had also been buried in Dutsin ma cemetery.
The University spokesman said the institution was in mourning over the incidents.
