Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has stopped the impeachment move against deputy governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, by the state’s House of Assembly.
The judge barred members of the state’s House of Assembly from taking any further step in the impeachment process targeted against the deputy governor over his refusal to decamp from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with his principal, Governor Bello Matawalle.
Justice Egwatu issued the order, on Monday, in his ruling in an Ex-parte application filed by the PDP.

After listening to the arguments canvassed by lawyer to the PDP, Chief James Onoja Ogwu SAN, the judge held that the apprehension of the Applicant in respect of the impeachment move was serious and justified to restrain the defendants from carrying out the alleged action.
The judge also restrained the Chief Judge of Zamfara State from constituting any panel for the purpose of investigating Alhaji Gusau pending the determination of a Motion on Notice filed by the PDP.
