JAMB directs tertiary institutions to submit student matriculation lists 3 months after matriculation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed tertiary institutions in the country to submit their matriculation lists to the Federal Ministry of Education through the JAMB dedicated channel not later than three months after matriculation ceremonies.

The JAMB stated that the directive from the Federal Ministry of Education was to ensure compliance with innovations introduced by JAMB to address admission irregularities.

The adoption of the measure by the Federal Ministry of Education followed allegations of certificate racketeering involving foreign institutions, particularly in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

“An Inter-Ministerial Committee investigated these claims and submitted recommendations, which the Honourable Minister of Education has approved for implementation.

“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is requested to implement these recommendations and provide updates to the Ministry”.

According to JAMB, the directive would ensure that only eligible candidates graduate as well as participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

JAMB said it introduced measures including the matriculation list to ensure transparency and accountability in the admission process, closing doors to illegal admissions.
