President Bola Tinubu has delivered a stern warning to high-ranking government officials and family members, particularly his son, Seyi, cautioning them against unauthorised attendance at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The President issued this warning, on Monday, before the commencement of the FEC meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
President Tinubu expressed his deep concern over recent incidents where his son and other individuals gained unauthorised access to the FEC meeting, a matter he found unacceptable.
The President conveyed his message with a resolute tone, asserting that strict protocols must be adhered to during these vital government proceedings. Tinubu emphasised,

Said he, “Last week, I noticed the undue access of people sneaking in and out of this Council.
“I saw the photograph of my son, Seyi, sitting behind the cubicle there. That is not acceptable.”
The President went on to make it clear who has legitimate access to the FEC meetings, saying, “I will announce to you here, people who are supposed to be here: Hadiza Usman, Special Adviser on Policy Coordination; Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy; Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Principal Private Secretary; and Damilotun Aderemi, Private Secretary.”
These individuals were named as exceptions to the restriction on attendance, as they play significant roles in the effective functioning of the government.

In a decisive tone, President Tinubu reiterated, “These are the people who are granted the exception to be here when we are conducting the business of the nation. Unless I send for you, don’t come.”
President Tinubu concluded by instructing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Folashade Yemi-Esan, to ensure strict compliance with his directive.
This development has raised questions and concerns within political circles, as the President’s decision to tighten security and access to FEC meetings appeared to be aimed at maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of these high-level government discussions.
It remains to be seen how this warning will impact theconduct of future Federal Executive Council meetings.
