Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said the index case, the Italian Coronavirus patient who has been in isolation and receiving treatment is still contagious and cannot be released now.

While giving update on the reason the Italian is still being kept in isolation, he said: ” Index case remains on admission and perfectly well but the only reason we are keeping him is because our tests confirm he is still secreting small amount of virus which means he is potentially still contagious.”
“The remain contacts of the index case , those in Ogun and Lagos States remain symptoms free and have exceeded the 14days surveillance . This means that we do not expect any of them to turn positive from contact with index case,” he added.
