A former National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, has kicked against the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying it is counterproductive and hurts only the Igbo.
IPOB, which initially ordered Ndigbo to stay at home without movement or opening their business premises every Monday until their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is released from detention, has, however, adjusted the order to hold only on days Kanu would appear in court.
Due to that order that crippled the South-east zone, many children slated to write this year’s examination conducted by the National Examination Council, NECO, missed their papers.

However, Ibegbu has pointed out the futility of the order, warning of its inherent dangers since it affected neither President Muhammadu Buhari nor the Federal Government in any way but the Igbo.
Ibegbu, who addressed newsmen, advised IPOB to look for alternative means of agitation, saying its sit-at-home order was chasing potential investors away from the South-East.
“It has a moral force but is detrimental to our economy. It will quell investments in Igboland, other means should be sought to achieve the same objective. It does not affect Buhari or the Federal Government,” he said.
