International online summit on migration, COVID- 19 holds Saturday

In a bid to keep journalists covering migration across the globe abreast of development on migration and COVID 19, the Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM) will on Saturday, April 4, 2020 holds an online summit on its international platform.

The summit with the theme: Migration and COVID 19 according to the President and Executive Director of JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi, was to further boost the knowledge of over 150 JIFORM members of the foundation across the continent.

The summit, according to Abayomi, would concern preventive measures against the deadly disease using technology tool to break barrier of distance.

He disclosed that, notable professionals with distinguished pedigrees had been selected as resources persons for the event.

The resource persons, the JIFORM president said, include the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), Deputy Comptroller Sunday James, the Public Information Officer of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Jorge Galindo, the National Spokesman of the Malawi Police Authority, Senior Superintendent, James Kadadzera and Daphne Tollis, a journalist based in Greece.

Ajibola further revealed to me that the lecture is the first phase in the series of engagements the foundation would be putting together for its members across the globe.

The program of event revealed that Daphne is to speak on Containment of Covid 19 and Media Impacts in Greece, DCI James is to handle Dynamics of Migration amidst COVID 19, Garlindo is billed to make presentation on IOM, Migrants and Media Language, while SS Kadadzera will discuss Malawi immigration experience and containment strategy against COVID 19.
