Insecurity: FG embarking on 1804 Jihadist Movement on Nigeria, says Gov. Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has accused the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of perpetrating ethnic cleansing in Nigeria.
According to Governor Ortom, the silence of the Federal Government about the insecurity ravaging the country showed it was a continuation of the 1804 Usman Dan Fodio Jihadist Movement in the country.
He further accused the Buhari government of nepotism by going after some purported enemies while turning a blind eye to the activities of some criminals particularly the Fulani militia operating in parts of the country.
The Benue State governor made the submission, in Makurdi, the state capital, while hosting are Doctors Without Borders led by the organisation’s Head of Mission in Nigeria, Mrs. Froukje Pelsma.
He lamented that it is regrettable that Nigerians cannot be protected in their own country.
The governor, however, commended the Doctors for their support in alleviating the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Mrs. Pelsma, on her part, acknowledged the support of the government to their intervention in the health needs of the IDPs in the state.
She, however, called on the governor to recruit more staff especially in the area of health by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) before it takes over from the organisation.
