The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State says it has concluded arrangement to conduct a flawless supplementary election in nine polling units of Ibeju-Lekki state constituency I.
Mr. Sam Olumekun, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, said in a statement on Thursday that the election was declared inconclusive because of over-voting in the nine polling units covering two Registration Areas (Ward) of the constituency.
According to him, the commission has met with all the relevant stakeholders in the area ahead of the poll.
He identified the stakeholders as political parties and affected candidates as well as Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) for the local government, and other interested groups.

“Sensitive materials will be moved from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the affected local government area today in the presence of the representatives of political parties and under the watch of security personnel.
“The training of ad hoc staff for the supplementary election is ongoing at the Registration Area Centre (RAC).
“Only voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards within the constituency will be allowed into the polling units to vote,” Olumekun said.
According to him, the affected polling units in Ibeju Registration Area I are polling units 001, 003, 004, 005, 006, and 009, while that of Iwerekun Registration Area I are polling units 002, 004, and 005.
NAN reports that the commission will on Saturday hold a supplementary election in the Ibeju-Lekki State Constituency I where the state assembly election was declared inconclusive.
Candidates of APC won in all the other 39 constituencies where the state assembly election has been concluded by the electoral umpire. (NAN)
