INEC officials stall voting in parts of Lagos

Some parts of Lagos are still waiting for the arrival of INEC officials to commence accreditation of voters.

Voters that assembled in areas like Okota, Egbe-Idimu and Ikotun areas since early morning are yet to be accredited due to the late arrival of electoral officers.

Some of the voters expressed displeasure with the development, noting that it could be deliberate effort to disenfranchise people.

“Many people who could no longer wait have gone back home” a potential voter in Agodo Egbe, who preferred anonymity, complained. “Nobody knows whether they will come back when the INEC officials eventually arrive. It is very frustrating.”

In Canal Estate, Okota, the situation was the same, as a throng of voters wait patiently for the arrival of the electoral officials.

“It is the same situation around this estate. I don’t know the situation of things in other areas but I guess it will be the same,” another voter said.
